Step 01 · Reverse engineering

Unravel the part

Reverse engineering is the art of unraveling the secrets of a product or system by examining its parts and functions. Our technical professionals — mechanical, electrical, and aerospace engineers — reverse engineer components and sub-components for any industry, and can carry the R&D project cradle-to-grave, including overhaul, repair, and functional testing processes.

Step 02 · 3-D laser scanning

Capture every surface

Laser scanning collects a point cloud of geometric samples across the subject’s surface, reconstructed into geometry that holds high tolerance to the original article — the raw material for an accurate digital model.

Step 03 · CAD modeling

Build the digital twin

Scan data becomes a CAD model in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and similar tools — easy to manipulate for product development, and translatable to CAM languages for CNC fabrication under 14 CFR Part 43 or manufacturing under Part 21. Over 50 years of experience modeling for a myriad of industries.

Step 04 · 3-D prototyping

Print the proof

Additive manufacturing builds the article layer by layer for proof of concept, fit checks, and even production. The FAA currently allows fabrication of aircraft components through additive manufacturing within a defined set of parameters — and we work inside them.

Step 05 · CNC & manual fabrication

Cut the real thing

Our CNC and manual machines — drills, lathes, mills, grinders, routers — fabricate prototypes or full runs of component parts from user-created CAD/CAM programs, in metal, plastic, wood, ceramic, or composite.

Every article we develop is framed against the applicable rule from day one — owner/operator-produced part fabrication in accordance with FAA Advisory Circular AC 43-18, or Parts Manufacturing Authority development under 14 CFR Part 21 — so the finish line includes the paperwork.
